This project is an online literary magazine, now on its third issue, that I led from initiation to implementation. I continue to serve as Web Editor & Guest Poetry Editor. My various responsibilities include: reading submissions, organizing the submission mailbox, responding to author submissions, planning the next issue, updating content, fixing bugs & typos, updating the design and function of The Millwork site pages as needed, planning and coordinating meetings, and choosing and editing the feature photo for the issue.
This project began with only the idea to start an online literary magazine as part of The Mill. I volunteered to take part in this project because of my previous involvement with The Mill and a passion for literature. After an initial meeting with the poetry editor, the fiction editor, and the president of The Mill, I created a design and mock ups for how the site would work. After approval, I began developing the pages, however, as a part of The Mill website, the project was delayed due to previously uncommunicated changes in hosting and a move to the use of Wordpress. After the move, I familiarized myself with Wordpress, redesigned the pages, researched plugins to find the best way to add and display each issue, designed and created a submission form and mailbox, and added content. I also created and maintain a Facebook page for Millwork. So far, the online literary magazine has been a success and is now on its third issue.
